LHS Welcomes Officer Austin

LHS is excited to introduce Officer Steven Austin as our new School Officer this year.  Please see below for more information about Officer Austin and be sure to give a warm Cardinal welcome!

 

Officer Steven J. Austin #243 Biography

Officer Austin was born in Baltimore, MD and a native of Midlothian, VA. He graduated from James River High School in 2000 and Christopher Newport University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication in 2004. He earned a full scholarship through Reserved Officer’s Training Corps (ROTC) and commissioned as a Second Lieutenant into the Army Transportation Corps. Officer Austin spent 10 years Active Duty Army and deployed three times to Iraq and once to South Korea. He transitioned from Active Duty Army in 2014 to pursue a career in law enforcement.

Officer Austin attended and graduated from the Mercer County Police Academy in February 2015 and recipient of the Certificate of Merit. He spent his first year of law enforcement with the Trenton Police Department and transferred to the Lawrence Police Department in February 2016. Officer Austin spent the last five years as a patrolman taking pride in patrolling the township neighborhoods and businesses. He is a ’Serve & Protect’ first and community-policing always minded officer.

Officer Austin is married with two daughters, a senior and third grader. He is a current New Jersey Army National Guardsmen and completing his Homeland Security Master’s Degree from Thomas Edison State University. Officer Austin enjoys working out, running, sports, the beach, fire pits, playing cornhole and most importantly, spending time with his Family.
