District Educators Tapped for State Committees

Two district educators applied for and were selected by the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) to lend their experience and expertise to serve on state committees.

Fay Lopez, Lawrence High School (LHS) assistant principal since 2015, was tapped as one of 400 educators from across the state, to serve in a Phase II of Assessment Outreach, Practitioner Working Group. Fay will be in the Data and Reporting Working Group. This working group will evaluate feedback received from Phase I of Assessment Outreach relevant to this group, discuss current resources, systems and processes, and craft specific, concrete recommendations for the next generation of statewide assessments.

Ewa Elliott, LHS media specialist for the past two years, was selected to serve on two committees: a NJDOE team of educators that will develop Kindergarten through Grade 12 English Language Arts Instructional Units based on the 2016 New Jersey Student Learning Standards and the NJDOE’s Technology and Platform group discussing the Next Generation Statewide Assessment and the state’s process of the transition.
