Former LES Student and Teacher Comes Full Circle to Lead her Alma Mater

At the May 22, 2024 Board of Education meeting, the Lawrence Township Board of Education approved Ms. Kristin Burke as the new principal of Lawrenceville Elementary School. Burke, who currently serves as the K-6 Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (STEAM) Supervisor for the district, brings a wealth of experience as well as a deep personal connection to her new role.

Burke’s history with Lawrenceville Elementary is a testament to her love of, and commitment to, the school and district. She began her academic journey as an elementary school student at Lawrenceville Elementary School and later accepted her very first teaching position there, going on to teach both second and third grades.

“I am incredibly honored and excited to return to Lawrenceville Elementary School as principal,” Burke said. “LES has always held a special place in my heart, and I am committed to creating an environment where every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to achieve their full potential.”

As the K-6 STEAM Supervisor for the district, Burke has been instrumental in developing and implementing innovative instructional strategies that have enhanced student learning and engagement. Her leadership in these areas has been marked by a strong focus on relationship-building and high expectations, ideals that she will carry into her new role. 

With an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education and Psychology, and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, both from the College of New Jersey, Burke has consistently demonstrated her commitment to fostering academic excellence and creating inclusive learning environments. Burke  is committed to working collaboratively with staff, students, and families to ensure that LES remains the high-achieving and nurturing family for which it is renowned. 

The LTPS community is thrilled to welcome Burke back to LES in her new role and looks forward to the continued positive impact she will have on the school and its students.
