LTPS NHD Students take Top Spots at States

At the NJ Regional History Day competition on March 7, LTPS had ten out of seventeen of its National History Day (NHD) Club members qualify for the state level of competition. Since then, NJ State History Day was moved to a virtual contest that occurred on May 2, where eight of the nine Lawrence High School (LHS) State contest participants were announced as qualifiers for the National contest! Five of the students placed 1st and three students were named as alternates.
 
The National contest will be held virtually in June. This year's National History Day theme is "Breaking Barriers in History."
 
The LHS National 1st place qualifiers are:

Senior Individual Performance - Jack Granahan: "Justice Louis Brandeis: Breaking Economic, Religious, and Political Barriers"
 
Senior Group Documentary - Paraj Goyal, Akash Kura: "Billie Jean King: The Rise of Gender Equality On and Off the Court"
 
The National contest alternates are: Miduna Rishindran, Bhavya Sahay, and Akshaya Shivaparan.
