Lanae Lopez named a Young Woman of Achievement

Lawrence High School (LHS) junior Lanae Lopez will be honored at the Mercer County Commission on the Status of Women annual Volunteer Awards Reception at the Mercer Oaks Clubhouse in West Windsor on March 31.

Lanae volunteers at Adela's Angels and Law Enforcement Officers Against Prostate Cancer Foundation (LEOAPCF), according to the commission. Both organizations focus on health care issues. She also orchestrates fundraising drives of coats, hats, gloves and pajamas for youth in the foster care system in Mercer County.

Each year, the Commission selects the honorees to receive the Woman of Achievement and Young Woman of Achievement awards based on their contributions to the Mercer County community through volunteer work. Mercer County Executive Brian M. Hughes is the event's honorary chairman.
