LHS Student Artist Selected as Congressional Arts Competition Winner
Lawrence High School (LHS) senior Yulduz Masharifova's painting, entitled "In Memory of Caylin Paul," was selected as the 4th place winner for the 12th District in the 2019 Congressional Arts Competition! Her work will be displayed in Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman's Washington D.C. office for one year.
From the US House of Representatives website: Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent in the nation and in each congressional district...Students submit entries to their representative's office, and panels of district artists select the winning entries. Winners are recognized both in their district and at an annual awards ceremony in Washington, DC. The winning works are displayed for one year at the U.S. Capitol.
