Lawrence High School (LHS) senior Ragav Raman has been selected as a recipient of the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX) Scholarship for the 2019-2020 academic year. CBYX is an exchange program funded by the U.S. Department of State that focuses on the development of language and leadership skills.
The program was inaugurated in 1983 through a bilateral agreement between the U.S. Congress and the German Bundestag (Parliament). Each country continues to place high value on its success as a symbol of the strength of U.S.-Germany relations. Each year 250 American and 285 German high school students are awarded a CBYX high school scholarship. There are also CBYX programs for recent high school graduates and young professionals.
As part of the program, Ragav will take a gap year after graduating next month to spend a year in Germany where he will attend a German school, study the German language and learn about German culture by living with a host family. Read more about this prestigious program here.
