Lawrence Township Celebrates Black History Month
In collaboration with the Lawrence Township Education Association, Lawrence Township Public Schools is proud to host a free and inclusive celebration that pays homage to the resilience and achievements of the black community. The celebration, “Black Resilience: Upward and Onward,” will take place on Saturday, February 24, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Lawrence High School, 2525 Princeton Pike in Lawrenceville.
The event kicks off at 2:00 PM with a marketplace featuring over two dozen black-owned businesses, offering attendees an opportunity to shop for unique and culturally significant products. At 3:00 PM, the celebration continues with a culinary journey through black history, featuring southern soul, Caribbean and African dishes. Attendees can savor the flavors while immersing themselves in a visual and musical exploration of black history.
The highlight of the evening begins at 5:00 PM in the auditorium, with a program that promises to captivate and inspire. The lineup includes musical and choral performances by LHS Madrigal, Ensemble & Gospel Choirs, LHS Jazz Band, and special featured performances. The celebration also includes the prestigious 2024 Trailblazer Awards, honoring individuals who have positively impacted Lawrence High School, the local community, or surrounding areas.

The event will culminate with a keynote address by the esteemed Rev. Dr. Charles F. Boyer, Pastor of the Greater Mt. Zion AME Church in Trenton, NJ.
Lawrence Township Public Schools is pleased to invite all community members to this free celebration, welcoming individuals of all backgrounds to join in the commemoration of Black History Month. While the event is free, donations will be graciously accepted to support future Black History Celebration events.
