On April 25th thru April 27,  the LHS Model UN Team attended the Global Classrooms International Model UN Conference in New York City. The Team played the role of delegates from Ethiopia, Morocco, Sudan, and Syrian Arab Republic.  They tackled issues such as structuring debt repayment through trade deals, the implications of digital currency on monetary policy & financial stability, global intellectual property rights in the Age of 3D printing and biotechnology, and the implications of AI for National Security and cyber warfare. In their 4 committees, The International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, the World Intellectual Property Organization, and the UN office of Counter-Terrorism, team members made opening topic speeches and smaller sub-topic speeches, collaborated with other students from all over the U.S. and other countries such as Canada, Mexico, Spain, Japan, and Ghana, on draft resolutions to their issue, defended those draft resolutions, and then voted in committee for their draft resolutions to become official.

Daniel Christel, advisor to the LHS Model UN Club, was so impressed by the students' assertiveness and perseverance to stay involved throughout the entire debate process of this three-day conference. Each partnership was an active participant and at the forefront of the debate process to get their resolution passed by the committee delegates. This year's team spent much time collaborating with other delegates to address global peace and prosperity through their resolutions.

LHS MUN Team members Stephen Cooper and Joshua Liu took home an award for "Best Position Paper Ethiopia: structuring debt repayment through trade deals in The International Monetary Fund."  In addition, LHS MUN Team members Amina Ismat and Ridhima Pandey took home an award for "Honorable Mention: Sudan, UN Office of Counter Terrorism.
