Lawrence Township Public Schools Preschool Program
Lawrence Township Public Schools is excited to announce a significant expansion of its preschool program.
Lawrence Township Public School applied for the Preschool Expansion Aid (PEA) funding from the New Jersey Department of Education in August 2023. Lawrence Township was then awarded the funding under a contingency, and received the official notice of the award on January 12, 2024.
Applications will be accepted through a lottery system. Students who are eligible for free and reduced lunch will be prioritized.

The district's first new class will open February 20, a revamping of the existing Cardinal Kids program to a five-day a week, full day preschool program housed in Lawrence High School.
The second additional preschool class scheduled to open this school year will be in one the district’s own elementary schools, and will likely open after Spring Break.
The district is slated to open additional classrooms each year, and by the plan’s fifth year, the district is projected to open its doors to nearly 500 Lawrence Township preschoolers.
To ensure accessibility, students qualifying for free and reduced lunch will be prioritized and entered into a lottery for the initial slots. The district emphasizes its dedication to serving the entire community, ensuring that every family has the opportunity to access high-quality preschool education for their children at no cost.
All 2023-2024 general education students enrolled in the preschool program will attend for free and community members can expect a refund for tuition paid back through September 2023.
