Dear Slackwood Families,
It is my great honor and pleasure to welcome you to Slackwood Elementary School, where we strive to develop knowledgeable thinkers, creative problem solvers and curious learners! Throughout the school year, our teachers and staff continually focus their skills and efforts on developing strong academic aptitudes, instilling a solid work ethic, encouraging positive character development and nurturing social and emotional abilities like resilience, kindness and perseverance. Slackwood has a long tradition of excellence and we are committed to providing programs, opportunities and curriculum that look to the future, and offer our learners a chance to strengthen their 21st century competencies such as the ability to collaborate, the aptitude to critically think, a capacity to communicate effectively and the power to innovate with new ideas.
Today’s learners must be resourceful, collaborative, creative and compassionate. Slackwood teachers and staff work to provide each student with the necessary academic and social skills that will enable them to become productive members of our community. We have extremely high expectations for all of our students and we trust you have these same high expectations. Elementary school is the foundation that all future learning is built upon! Education is definitely a partnership and it is extremely important to establish strong cooperative efforts between school, home and community. At Slackwood Elementary School, we believe it is essential to maintain frequent and open communication between the home and the school. We are delighted to be members of the same team as your child begins their educational journey!

Our school website is a great place to keep up-to-date on planned activities and special events throughout the year, so please check it on a regular basis.
