EP Guidance Staff

  • Dear Families,

Welcome!  I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the school counselor for Eldridge Park School.  I am looking forward to getting to know you and your children.

As the school counselor I will be assisting all students as they progress through the developmental stages of early childhood.  Developmental classroom guidance lessons focusing on character development and social/emotional skills will be presented to all classes on a monthly basis to help formulate important skills and habits. Topics for our “Character Trait of the Month Program” include respect, responsibility, perseverance, citizenship, fairness, trustworthiness and caring.  The primary goal of this program is to help students achieve success socially, emotionally, and academically. Monthly school newsletters will include a "Character Corner" which will highlight our character trait and social skill programs.

I will also be seeing children individually and in small groups.  Children with similar concerns will be included in groups with topics such as social skills, anger management, self-esteem, and school success.  The majority of these groups will be developed on an as needed basis and usually will run from six to eight weeks.   Referrals can be made by teachers, parents/guardians or by the students themselves by way of a guidance “mailbox”.

When I am not teaching in the classroom or meeting  with children, you can often find me having “lunch bunch” with students or consulting with teachers and staff members.

Resources for parents to borrow are available on an information bookshelf in the guidance office. Please feel free to e-mail me or call me at any time with questions and/or concerns regarding your child/children. I can be reached at pburns@ltps.org or at (609)671-5560 x4106.   I welcome the opportunity to work with you and your children throughout the year.
