HINTS for developing and teaching Holocaust Curriculum - a must read.
The Museum of Jewish Heritage - A Living Memorial to the Holocaust
located in New York City is close enough for a bus ride. In the Museum’s core exhibition, personal objects, photographs, and original films illustrate the story of Jewish heritage in the twentieth century. There is a designated wing for performances, education and instruction, special exhibitions, remembrance, and special events. The collection provides source materials for permanent, temporary and traveling exhibitions.
Holocaust/Genocide Resource Center
Mercer County Community College has a Holocaust/Genocide Resource Center on site in the Library. They have a collection of Educational Trunks. Within each trunk is a full collection of everything a teacher would need for a complete age appropriate unit, for learning about the ultimate effects of hatred and greed. There are three trunks, one each for elementary, middle and high school levels.
The Julius and Dorothy Koppelman Holocaust/Genocide Resource Center
is located right up the road, on the campus of Rider University. The Center is a great local resource for viewing various educational materials. A list of available books and videos can be accessed from the site.
United States Holocaust Memorial Museum
A little further down the road is the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, located in Washington D.C. This site is an excellent resource with sections specific for both educator and student learning.
