  • Handwriting Practice

    Directions: Choose 4 questions to answer. Each response should be at least 4-6 sentences long. Remember all of your handwriting rules as well as proper capitalization and punctuation. Please respond in the notebook provided.

    1. Create your own holiday.  What would you celebrate?  How could you get others to join in the fun?

    2. If you could end any one problem in the world, what would it be?  Why?

    3. If someone wrote a book about you, what would it be about?

    4. Write about the best vacation you ever took.

    5. Would you rather jump out of a plane or go scuba diving?  Why?

    6. What is your favorite TV show?  What do you like about it?

    7. If you could live inside any video game, which would you choose?  Why?

    8. What is your favorite commercial on TV and why is it your favorite?

    9. Do you ever remember what you dream? Do you dream in color? Write about a very vivid dream that you remember.

    10. If they were to make a movie about your life who would play you? Explain what traits this actor/actress has that relates to you.

    Typing Practice

    Find two articles or pages from a book in your house and type them up on google docs make sure to share the doc with me (ccampbell@ltps.info). Remember to use both hands when typing.

    Heavy work activities for kids at home

    • Carry groceries into house

    • Carry a laundry basket full of clothes

    • Build a fort

    • Make the bed

    • Do outdoor chores

    • Do indoor chores

    • Load/unload dishwasher

    • Push or move furniture

    • Sort recycling

    • Water plants with a watering can

    • Stack chairs

    • Wash the car

    • Remove couch cushions and put them back

    • Fill a pillowcase or bag with stuffed animals

    • Move or build with real tools

    • Give the dog a bath

    • Carry a small pet

    • Drink thick liquids through a straw

    • Clean windows

    • Have a pillow fight

    • Push chairs in at the table

    • Push or pull boxes filled with toys or books

    • Stuff pillowcases

    • Stuff duvet into a duvet cover

    • Empty the garbage can

    • Pull laundry out of washer or dryer

    • Climb a chair or couch

    • Make an obstacle course

    • Stack and unstack cans or boxes of food

     

    Visual perceptual activities

    • Have your child scan through an article and cross out all letters a, then go through and cross out letters e. remind them to scan left to right

    • Completed mazes

    • Connect the dot activities

    • Hidden pictures

    • Work on puzzles alone or as a family

    • Make a pattern with blocks

    • Play a matching game

     

    Fine motor skills

    • Drawing

    • Competing arts and crafts

    • Playing with Legos

    • Playing with PlayDoh

    • Thread beads onto a pipe cleaner

    • Make a bracelet

    • Create something with yarn

    • Bouncing and throwing a ball

    • Using tweezers and tongs to transfer small objects

    • Sorting small objects such as beads, dried beans or buttons

    • Matching nuts and bolts– Raid the shed and see how many different sized nuts and bolts you can find. Place the nuts in one bowl and the bolts in the other and show your child how to find the matching set and then when they are all matched, to arrange in size.

    • Posting small objects such as pipe cleaners into a bottle– Pipes cleaners or straws, posted into the neck of a PET bottle

    • Pipet or water dropper– use this to create art with or to transfer water from one bowl to another.

    • Pouring from one container to another

    • Using building blocks– any kind of block build is great.
