Bus Information

  • The Lawrence Township Public School District transports more than 3,300 students to and from school each day. We take very seriously our responsibility to ensure that all of our students have a safe and efficient way to get to school and that they arrive ready to learn.

    • Bus transportation is provided for students in grades K-3 who live more than 1 mile from school, students in grades 4-12 who live more than 2 miles from school, and those for whom having transportation alleviates an unsafe situation (e.g., prevents a student from having to cross a highway, etc.)

    • School bus riders are required to adhere to all bus regulations and safety rules and to exhibit good citizenship while waiting at their designated bus stops and while riding. Students who commit serious and/or repeated infractions may be suspended or excluded from the bus, especially if his or her behavior contributes to the diminished safety of fellow riders.

    • Students will be picked up and dropped off only at district bus stops. Please do not ask your bus driver to drop your child off in front of your house or at any other non-designated drop-off location. Bus stops are selected carefully to ensure safety and to enable buses to complete their routes in an efficient and timely manner.

    • A student may only ride the bus for which his or her pass is issued. All changes must be made through the Transportation Office.

    BUS PASSES

Bus passes contain all essential details of the arrangements we have made for transporting your child to and from school. Your child’s name, address, grade, pick-up time, bus stop location, route/bus number, destination (school), and bus contractor appear on the bus pass. Bus passes will be available in Genesis the last week of August for the upcoming school year. Please print the student's bus pass and carefully review it with your child. It is important that you and your child know the route number. Students should also carry their bus passes with them each day.

    PICK-UP TIMES

Students should arrive at their designated stops ten minutes prior to the pick-up time listed on their bus pass.

Please be patience during the first few weeks of school as it is normal for buses to arrive at stops a few minutes before or after their scheduled times.

If the bus is more than 15 minutes late, please contact the Transportation Office at 609 671-5445 or 609 671-5444.

    CHILD CARE REQUEST FORMS

Transportation cannot be provided to any location for less than five days per week. Transportation cannot be provided for play dates.

Child care provider transportation must be provided to/from the same location 5 days per week. The pickup location must be the same 5 days a week.  The drop off location must be the same five days a week.

All child care transportation requests must be made at least five days prior to the start date needed and must be fill out  and submitted by the parent.

Please be aware that requests received after August 15th through the second week of school can not be accommodated immediately. All requests are dependent upon ample available seating on the bus.

A child care request form must be filled out for each new school session. Previous child care request forms do not carry over to Extended School Year or the new school year.

Child Care Provider forms are located below.

    TRANSPORTATION WAIVER/REINSTATEMENT

If you know that your child will not be riding a bus because he or she has alternate transportation, please fill out a Transportation Waiver. Your doing so will allow us to assign riders who might otherwise be bumped unnecessarily to another bus. If at any time during the year you find that you need to rescind that waiver you can fill out a Transportation Reinstatement form. You will find both forms, as well as Waiver Policy Guidelines, in the link at the bottom of this page.
