Lawrence Township Board of Ed Seeks Applicants to Fill Vacant Seat

The successful applicant must be willing to serve as a Board Member from July 2025 through the first week of January 2026. 

Lawrence citizens interested in filling the vacant Board of Education seat should submit an Email of Interest to the Board President, Michele Bowes at MBowes@ltps.org and the Board Secretary, Thomas Eldridge, at TEldridge@ltps.org.   Applicants should explain the reasons they are interested in joining the Board of Education within their Email of Interest.  Please label emails “Board Vacancy”.  The Email of Interest is due on or before May 30, 2025.

Model UN outside UN

On April 25th thru April 27,  the LHS Model UN Team attended the Global Classrooms International Model UN Conference in New York City. The Team played the role of delegates from Ethiopia, Morocco, Sudan, and Syrian Arab Republic.  They tackled issues such as structuring debt repayment through trade deals, the implications of digital currency on monetary policy & financial stability, global intellectual property rights in the Age of 3D printing and biotechnology, and the implications of AI for National Security and cyber warfare. In their 4 committees, The International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, the World Intellectual Property Organization, and the UN office of Counter-Terrorism, team members made opening topic speeches and smaller sub-topic speeches, collaborated with other students from all over the U.S. and other countries such as Canada, Mexico, Spain, Japan, and Ghana, on draft resolutions to their issue, defended those draft resolutions, and then voted in committee for their draft resolutions to become official.

DECA Group

This past week, 16 of our students traveled to compete at the DECA International Career Development Conference (ICDC)—a prestigious global event that brings together the top 25,000 DECA members from around the world. With nearly 290,000 members in DECA globally, qualifying for this competition places students in the top tier of emerging business leaders. In fact, this year’s ICDC was the largest DECA conference in the history of the program—and our students were there to represent New Jersey and Lawrence Township with pride!
