Parent Committee Invites Input about Special Services

Please see the below letter sent to parents/guardians of children with special needs from Linda Mithaug, director of student services. Included in the letter is a survey drafted by the Special Education Parent Advisory Committee (SEPAC). Survey input is requested from parents/guardians of children with special needs AS WELL AS parents/guardians who believe their child(ren) may need special services.

Here is the link to take the survey. The deadline is April 28, 2017.

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Please allow me to introduce The Special Education Parent Advisory Committee (SEPAC). The purpose of this group is to share knowledge and information in order to build strong collaborative relationships among parents, school staff and community resource providers for our families with children with special needs within the Lawrence Township Public Schools. For this to happen, they need your help. Below is an introduction from SEPAC and a request for you to participate in a brief survey. I encourage you to take part in helping us help you.

In addition, SEPAC will be hosting a Resource Parent training through Statewide Parent Advocacy Network, Inc. (SPAN). If you are interested in participating please email SEPAC at the email address listed below.

Linda B. Mithaug

Director of Student Services

The Special Education Parent Advisory Committee (SEPAC) is reaching out to the LTPS community to participate in a short survey (below) to help us gather valuable feedback related to special services within the Lawrence schools. As a newly-formed organization made up of LTPS parents, our primary goal is to better understand and serve the needs of families in Lawrence Township who have special needs children. This survey is designed to help us achieve our goal. The survey is endorsed by the school district, the results are anonymous and will come directly to the SEPAC.

We would appreciate all parents who have children receiving special education services, or parents who believe their children need special services, to participate in this brief survey. Your voice, your feedback is important. Together we can make a difference! If you have any questions, please contact us at
